WYRESDALE WEDDINGS

A beautiful family led day for Candice and Ben at Wyresdale Park. Before I start rambling, here’s their film teaser. I shot hybrid photo and video as a solo shooter. It was a beautiful wedding to work on.

The night before a wedding always spend a good chunk of time running through my information, making sure I have the right timings and everything I need to be able to do the job. The night before this wedding I noticed there was going to be two ceremonies. The first at 12, and the second at 2pm. I’ve never done a wedding of this format before, usually it’s been the other way around or straight after. So I was intrigued to see how this model worked.

I arrived around 8.30am, to a very calm north wing at Wyresdale. The weather was unusually warm for April and for a change it wasn’t raining. The wind however was starting to get a bit cheeky but I brushed that to one side and cracked on. I found Candice doing her own makeup in her room, the maids doing hair, family milling around getting ready and steaming dresses in what was a super chilled morning. I caught Ben as I was about to go flying. He was walking back to his lodge after having a swim in the lake.

As per usual, I spent this time capturing details, venue and other bits a bobs. Gemma from Bells and Daisies had just delivered the most gorgeous bouquets to the girls, pastels and blues which gave a really beautiful spring vibe.

Ben’s Grandads watch was particularly important to him and had been given to his grandad for long service on the railways. I love special little details like this, weird as it seemed at the time, I loved filming him doing some weird wrist swinging to get it going. It’s the little details I love to see.

After some very important singing and dancing to Disney with her niece, Candice walked to her legal ceremony on her own in a beautifully fitted tea dress, past the most gorgeous magnolia tree, on her way to get married.

After the legals it was always the plan for Ben and Candice to go back to their rooms and have an outfit change and freshen up, along with some lunch. However storm Kathleen was being an absolute pain in the backside and ramping up the wind. We decided to get out onto the lake straight after the ceremony when Candice still had her short dress on and the wind wasn't as strong as it was predicted to get later on.

So that’s what we did…

I’m not gonna lie here and paint a beautifully calm picture of an easy drone flight, it was anything but. If you watch their teaser film of the boat footage you’ll see the gust of wind hurtling towards the boat which blew the drone almost into the trees. It wasn’t the easiest of flights I can assure you. Regardless, we got the shot Candice had requested and so it was box ticked, onto the second part of the day.

A freshen up, dress change for Candice, pizza for lunch and off they went for round two.

As always, Kerrie from The birds and bees delivered a beautifully personalised ceremony detailing Candice and Ben’s relationship. It was heartfelt yet funny in places and included a candle light, and ring warming.

Candice walked down the aisle to the beautiful sounds of Piano Daisy Jo

It was time for speeches and food, all the guests made their way into the barn before a yummy roast was served. Candice and Ben had ket the decor on the tables beautifully simple with the help of Gemma. Their wedding cake was made by a relative.

Bellies full from the wonderful spread put on by The Striped Kitchen, emotions high, it was time to burn off some of the gorgeous food with a cheeky little bouquet toss in the newly renovated tractor shed. Candice threw this in at the last minute (more of that can be seen in their film teaser. Then it was time to party the night way. And party they did!

Shaun from SBDJ Services provided the banging tunes and sax for the evening along with his dad running the Photo Booth. Together they provided a great evenings entertainment - clear to see from the dancing and smiles.

Candice and Ben had clearly practised their first dance routine which was wonderful, followed by an emotional dance with her dad afterwards. The the party began….

Wedding number 6 of the year was a beautiful mix of families, good food, big smiles and all round happiness.

Thank you for having me, I thoroughly loved this day.
